Local Activities

Fantastically located at the foothills of the Pyrenees La Lanette is a perfect base for outdoor adventurers young and old alike. Within walking distance or just a short drive away our region boasts a vast selection of outdoor pursuits and cultural interests to suit all tastes. Some of the activities you may wish to try include walking, fishing, cycling, rafting, canyoning, skiing and parapenting. Or if you prefer history and architecture there are plenty of delights for you to discover.

A quaint village of approximately 450 residents welcomes you. If you just wish to wander the quiet lanes and sample the wonders of village life this is the perfect place to do just this. From La Lanette you can find several challenging walks which will offer you breathtaking views of the mountains. A short walk from the house you will find a well hidden fishing lake set in a tranquil location. Competitions and a snack bar can be found here in the summer months. Or if painting takes your fancy, why not simply relax in our beautiful garden and paint the stunning landscape.

Chapelle St Julien is a wonderful example of architecture dating back many hundreds of years. The key can be obtained from the village Mairie. Just a 15 min walk into the next village of Estenos you will find a small friendly bar. The host is welcoming and always keen to tell you a story or two!!

Lac de GenosSet in the heart of the Louron Valley about  a 40 min drive from here, you will find Loudenvielle. It has a Balnea thermal spa and fun pool which is open all year round.Along side of the spa you will find Lac Genos, a man made lake which you can walk all the way around, completely surrounded by views of the mountains. You can easily spend a day here exploring the various water activities, adventure park,  picnic sites, or for the more energetic you can enjoy the wonderful views from a parapente. Set at 1000m it is a must visit, you can climb up to the old castle ruins to take in a spectacular view. www.balnea.fr

The Pyrenees is a walkers and hikers paradise. Whether you are a serious rambler or just enjoy a stroll amidst the stunning scenery this is the area for you. The Vallee D'Oueil, Vallee de la Pique, Vallee Du Lys and Lac D'oo are a few of the beautiful walking areas to discover. Just 15 mins from here you will find the base of the Pic Du Gar, a challenging walk offering stunning views of the mountain range. Serious ramblers who wish to have a closer view of the highest point in the Pyrenees should take an early morning start from the Hospice de France and climb the mule track to the Port de Venasque

Valley du LysAlso worth exploring is the Valley de Lys with is waterfall Cascade d'enfer, this area is beautifully positioned for relaxing and picnicing by the river. The nearby Hospice de France boasts breath taking views of the mountains and is an ideal starting point for many challenging hikes. Another great walk is the hike to Lac D’oo, about a 2 hour climb to a stunning lake and a 275m waterfall, you will find plenty of places to relax here and an auberge is open for snacks etc in the summer months.

Lannemezan

At the Parc de Loisirs in Lannemezan you will find activities for children of all ages. There is a large boating lake with pedalos and boats for hire, pony rides, a carosel, bouncy castle, train rides, and a mini bobsleigh track. You will find all the usual playground equipment, large picnic areas, snack bars, a themed fairy story area, and lots of animals and birds to discover. Admission to the park is free, although there is a 2 euro car park charge and a small charge for some of the attractions. Open all year round.
